February 17, 2015

Hey mom! So this week was pretty good!

So on Monday we had a lesson with the Sarabia Family. We went over the Restoration and it went good. We also played soccer and it was super fun.

Wednesday.
We got up and borrowed the sisters car and went to San B. (He had all 4 wisdom teeth removed) I went in, paid, and then they led me to a little room. I sat in the chair they did some adjustments to it so it fit me. Then they put a brace on my arm and stuck an I.V. in and I feel asleep. Like it was really fast from me getting there to getting put under. It was crazy!!! I woke up and I wasn't really groggy or anything. I had to be helped to the car but after that I could walk around on my own and stuff. They told me when I left that we should go get a burger or something solid in me. So we went to In-N-Out and I got a burger. It was super hard to eat because my lower lip was numb still but I was able to do it.
The rest of the day was pretty chill. I just sort of slept and at some point during the day we did a little split.  Elder Twitchell and Elder Workmen went out to take some brownies to the Sarabia family and Elder Baer hung out with me. We ate some ice-cream and talked a bit. And that was about it for that day.

Thursday.
We had weekly planning and that's about it. After that we went out and tried to visit people but nobody was home, and nobody was outside. One nice thing was that an English member stopped us and told us where they lived if we needed water or food or anything so that was really nice.

This picture was taken at Zone Conference 2 days after his extraction.

Friday.
So Zone Conference was cool. We talked a lot about leaving commitments. And that we need to Find out their desires, then promise them the blessings that they need, state our authority as representatives and servants of Jesus Christ, and then do Follow-Up to help them do the work. Among other things but I don't have time to write them all.

Sunday.
We super good. Noelia, Magdelena, and Charlie came to church!! They loved it! and Noelia is signing up for youth conference!!! That night all of our appointments after 7 fell through and so we decided to walk and we were heading for a potentials house and we walked past a less active members home who had just gotten knee surgery.  He walked out of his house just as we walked past and we were able to help him move his garbage cans to the street. Then that night when we got to our potentials house they let us in and we taught about Jesus Christ and they loved it and we have an appointment set up for this Saturday!

That's the week! I know this church is true! I know we will be the most happy if we follow the commandments of God and keep our covenants. I hope everyone has a great week!

Dad! Stop being Sick!
Jena! Stop Procrastinating!!
Katie! Do Something Interesting!

February 9, 2015

Hey Mom!!!

So for Monday.
We had a Noche de Hogar (family night) at the Rodriguez's house. It was a lot of fun, but crazy at the same time! Las familias Rodriguez, Cardona, Rosas, Uribe, Toriz, and 6 missionaries all at their house!! So many people!!!!
We shared a little lesson about Faith, and then played a little Ninja with the kids, and after we had some carne asada (grilled beef). It was super super good!

Tuesday.
Literally after district meeting nothing happened all day. Until we were walking home and some guy stopped us in the middle of the street. Like literally halfway through the intersection. It was crazy!! I thought we were gonna get hit by a car and die!!! But we didn't. haha. His name was R. Taylor, and we found out he is an investigator of the English elders. He is a funny old guy..

Wednesday.
We had dinner with the Felix family. The other elders came so we met Elder Workmen, the new missionary. He is from Salt Lake City, and has about 4 months in the mission I think. We had a cool talk to Hna Feliz about the Restauracion (restoration). She told us she wanted to learn how to talk to people about the gospel simply so she didn't overwhelm her friends. We were just like perfect! That's what we had planned to do. So it was cool. We taught her the Restauracion in 5 minutes and she thought it was the coolest thing ever and so we have set up for this week to go back and have her teach us. If your missionaries aren't doing that with you do it as a family. Be able to teach the points of the Restoration in 5 minutes. It helps get down to the simple true doctrine!

Thursday.
We went and saw Carlos (Dad), Noelia (15, Daughter), Magdalena (9, Daughter), and Charlie (3-4,Son). They are referrals from the sisters. I mentioned them last week I think. But they are super awesome. They were busy that night so we set up a return appointment for Saturday. That family is so awesome though!!! Super prepared!

Friday.
We dedicated the area and apartment. Everything feels different after we dedicated it. It’s pretty cool. I got your envelope thing mom!!! Thank you!! I'm excited to read about all these other missionaries!!! We talked to a former/potential that we have been trying to set up with forever!! And she told us they are going to a different church now because it has a day care! We were just like nooooooooo!!!! Ugh. But they have their choice. We did some service at the Rodriguez's house, cleaning up the yard and then thy fed us dinner.

Saturday.
We stopped by a less actives house and she told us she had company over so we'd have to come by another time. But she felt bad so she gave us some chocolate milk. Elder Twitchell like almost exploded with happiness haha. It was crazy! That night we took bishop to see Carlos and his family and it went pretty well. We talked about the restauracion and read from the Book of Mormon. IT was a good lesson. Bishop had some cool pictures of Christ that he gave to everyone. So that was sweet!

Sunday.
Noelia, Maggy(Magdalene) and Charlie all came to church and they loved it!!! We are so excited for them! They are so way good! They made some friends and are starting to get comfortable!!! We had dinner with the Familia Monarrez. We had squash and cheese and rice. It was good. I had to force it down at the beginning but as I went it got easier. Thank goodness for tortillas and salsa!!! They taught us the Restauracion and did a super good job.

That's the week!

Also. Shout Out to the West Family!!!! President Van Cott told me you visited and asked about me! So thanks for reading my blog!!!

But that was my week. Dad!!! Have you asked for a blessing?? If not ask for one!!!! and to Jena!! Do what you have to do when you have to do it. It’s something I've learned a lot out here. If I don't do something right when I think of it I forget! and it never happens. So do your homework and just stay calm! It'll all be ok!!

I'm getting kicked off!! I'll talk to you next week! I love yall!!!

January 27, 2015

So for this week the only highlights/low lights are our lesson with G., L. and C. So with G. we brought a brother with us and well the lesson went really rough. The brother was just trying to make conversation with our investigator and well G. flipped out at him and it was just awkward because then she told Elder Twitchell that she didn't understand anything he was saying so I had to teach like everything. Ugh. It was just hard and uncomfortable because of the tension. :/

L.basically dropped us :( We had a lesson with him and we watched the Restoration Video with him and afterwards he was like woo that was intense and so we invited him to pray to ask God if Joseph Smith was a prophet and he said no... Then he told us that he had a lot of stuff going on and didn't have time to get into the church and stuff. We tried to explain but to no avail. So we are going to leave him alone a while.

But C. went really good. We have been trying to visit C. for a long time and we always got him at a bad time. But we caught him and we did How To Begin Teaching and it went super good and he is super interested. We have another appointment for Sunday. So we'll see how it goes.

Also a kid named E.  moved into the ward. He is 19, from Columbia, and  is a member and doesn't do anything.  Doesn't work, no family, or friends to hang with. So we are going to take him out with us all the time. and teach him English haha He is a super cool guy. So we are excited to have him to help us!

Other then that. My week has been about the same. My companions’ bike broke so we are walking but hopefully we can get it fixed tonight! That's been about the week though! Sorry about the few pictures. I'll see what I can do this week!

I hope everyone has a great day and week!
I love yall!
